The Amazing Benefits of Noopept

Noopept is a performance enhancing peptide for the brain that enhances the sound and flow of music, concentration, and motivation. It isn't a recreational drug and it is 100% legal to buy and use.

Ethyl 1-(phenylacetyl)-L-prolylglycinate

Noopept is a smart drug that is usually prescribed in Russia. R

It is not racetam, but does act on the acetylcholine system, as well as moduation of AMPA receptors. R

It has been found to be 1000 times more potent than piracetam. R

Noopept isn't active until metabolized into cycloprolyglycine. R

1. Helps Enhance Memory

Noopept stimulates the expression of NGF and BDNF. R

The increase in NGF and BDNF is associated with chronic improvement in memory associated with Noopept. R R

Acute administration of Noopept 24 hours after a learning process is still associated with a degree of memory enhancement in rats. R

2. May Prevent and Repair Cerebral Trauma

Noopept at 10mg twice daily appeared to be effective in aiding in recovery of brain damage from vascular damage. Noopept was also effective against physical trauma. R

Noopept may be associated with protection against stroke, by opening potassium channels, having a modulatory effect. R

α-synuclein is a major constituent of Lewy bodies (protein clumps that are the pathological hallmark of Parkinson's disease). Noopept at a 1:1 ratio or ten-fold greater seemed to stop α-synuclein-induced cytotoxicity. R R

In mice, Noopept may help with Alzheimer's Disease, as Noopept has been found to increase immunoreactivity to Aβ amyloid. R R

3. Reduces Immunosupression

Noopept has shown to reduce immunosuppression induced by cyclophosphamide, which may be helpful in stroke. R R

Chronic dosing of Noopept for 7 days showed enhanced T-cell proliferation. R

4. Relieves Anxiety

Along with Piracetam, Noopept was taking 56 days by 53 persons with cognitive ailments (either vascular cerbral damage or post-traumatic damage). The vascular cerebral damage group showed better mood, sleep, and wakefulness while both groups had reduced fatigue, anxiety, irritability, apathy, and affective lability. R

5. Has Antidepressant Effects

When 20mg of Noopept was taken for 56 days, there was less depressive symptoms associated with test subjects. R

My Experience with Noopept

I took around ~10mg (maybe less) of noopept sublingually (held under tongue for 5 min and then swallowing the rest with water) in the morning. It tastes awful. I had to drink a green juice after to avoid nausea.

I felt a clean energy and reduced anxiety. This lasted most of the day, but by around the evening I felt dizzy, tired and achy. The positive effects lasted the next day too.

After a few weeks of dosing I started to feel "emotional dullling". The best way I can describe this is that I was very logical, but had very little emotions (highs or lows).

Update: A few weeks later after using it, the emotional dulling is still present. I would call myself a lot more logical than I used to be. They may be a good peptide for bipolar patients, since I have no mood swings. Unfortunately, I have a lot less "highs".

Ampakines can cause emotional blunting, sort of like Autism-like symptoms. R

Side Effects

Be weary that the majority of studies with Noopept have been in rodents or animals. Hopefully more human studies will come out in the future.

Here is a list of common side effects:

  • Anxiety
  • Appetite changes
  • Brain fog
  • Cognitive impairment
  • Depression
  • Fatigue
  • Headaches
  • Insomnia
  • Irritability
  • Mood swings
  • Memory impairment
  • Motivational deficits
  • Muscle aches
  • Physical Weakness
  • Rapid thinking
  • Restlessness
  • Sleep disturbances
  • Temperature changes
  • Tingling sensations
  • Visual changes
  • Weight changes

If you have a side effect like the ones listed above, take a lower dose! Remember, minimum effective dose is what you should go for.

Noopept has been shown to increase BDNF R, but downregulate TrkB (tyrosine kinase receptor B). R

Noopept has an "M" Shaped response curve, meaning that you'll feel the strongest effects at a dose of about 10-15mg and then again at ~150mg. Any dose in between the two isn't going to work out quite as planned.

Most people take it sublingually. I've heard of it being used in alcohol to enhance alcohol's effects. R

I never tried that as I don't drink.

Biosynthesis for Noopept

The best method of delivery has been shown to be oral ingestion. R

Noopept can easily cross the blood brain barrier. R

The half-life of Noopept is around 16 minutes in rats, although there appear to be interspecies differences with rats having more rapid metabolism of Noopept in serum relative to humans. R R

Mechanism Of Action

Noopept is able to increase the DNA-binding activity of HIF-1, without affecting  CREB, NFAT, NF-κB, p53, STAT1, GAS, VDR, and HSF1.  R

  • In mice with a cholinergic deficit, it did not improve long term memory. This may suggest that supplementing choline will enhance it's hippocampal formation and function. R R R R
  • Noopept do not cause tolerance. Chronic administration even make the effects more noticeable. R
  • It may be wise to cycle Noopept as BDNF (in rats) down-regulates neurotrphin responsiveness, TrkB protein and TrkB protein and mRNA levels. R
